The Sun letters are colored yellow.

The Moon letters are colored black.

Definite Article in Arabic

The definite article in Arabic is ٱل

It means 'The'.

The next slide contains words from Soorah Al Fatihah with ٱل colored.

The alif in ٱل is always Hamzatul Wasl.

If ٱل comes in the start of an aayah, we will replace Hamzatul Wasl with fathah.

If ٱل comes in between aayah, we will drop the alif. The alif will NOT be pronounced.

The Sun letters are colored Yellow like the sun. The Laam in ٱل is NOT pronounced for the sun letters. The Sun letter will carry a shaddah.

The Moon letters are colored Blue. The Laam in ٱل is pronounced for the moon letters. The moon letters will not carry a shaddah.
