7A: to + infinitive

7A: to + infinitive

* infinitive (V₀: động từ nguyên mẫu e.g. do, go, drink, eat) *

When we use 'to + infinitive' and its position (Khi nào sử dụng động từ thêm "to" và vị trí của nó)

To say why or the reason you do something

*Cho biết lý do tại sao bạn thực hiện hành động đó

- For example:

1. I came here to meet you (Mình đến đây ĐỂ gặp bạn)

2. I learn English to have a better job in the future (Tôi học tiếng Anh là ĐỂ có công việc tốt hơn trong tương lai)

3. I come to Universal to learn English (Tôi đến Universal ĐỂ học tiếng Anh)

POSITION: after some verbs (want, need, would like, etc.)

*theo sau một số động từ (want, need, would like, try, etc.)

- For example:

1. I need to buy a new mobile (Tôi cần mua điện thoại mới)

2. He wants to study abroad (Cậu ấy muốn học ở nước ngoài/ Cậu ấy muốn đi du học)

3. Try not to talk about his ex-girlfriend (Cố gắng đừng nhắc đến bạn gái cũ của cậu ấy nhé)

Here are some verbs followed by 'to + infinitive'

• decide: quyết định

• forget: quên

• hope: hy vọng

• learn: học

• need: cần

• offer: đề nghị, cung cấp

• plan: lên kế hoạch

Here are some verbs followed by 'to + infinitive'

• pretend: giả vờ, ra vẻ

• promise: hứa

• remember: nhớ

• start: bắt đầu

• try: cố gắng

• want: muốn

• would like: muốn

POSITION: after adjectives

- For example:

1. It's nice to meet you here (Gặp bạn ở đây vui thật đó!)

2. It isn't easy to solve this problem (Không dể để giải quyết chuyện này đâu)

3. Great to know you! (Thật tuyệt khi được quen biết bạn)

POSITION: after question words (what, when, how, etc.)

*theo sau từ để hỏi

- For example:

1. How to make a good first impression when you meet someone for the first time (Làm sao để tạo ấn tượng đầu tốt đẹp khi gặp ai đó lần đầu tiên)

2. I don't know what to do now (Tôi không biết phải làm gì bây giờ)
