Objectives: Learners are expected to

• Observe physical and chemical properties of matter

• Describe the physical and chemical properties of matter

• Classify materials based on its physical and/or chemical properties

• Appreciate the importance of recognizing properties of matter in minimizing waste

Important Question to ask

Why is it important to know the properties of matter?

Previous lessons thought you about the properties of matter: mass and volume.

Other than that, there are several properties that makes each mater distinct from one another

Knowing their properties will let us know what it is made of.

This will help us decide whether a material is waste or still useful

The properties of materials can be classified as

• Physical properties

• chemical Properties

A characteristic of matter that can be readily observed without changing its composition is known as physical property. 

A physical property can be identified by using the five senses or some measuring tools. 

Some physical property are specific to each phase of material.
