​WHAT IS A LEGEND?

A legend (derived from Latin, LAGENDA) is a ​traditional story or group of stories told about a particular person or place. Legends resemble folktales in content; they may include supernatural beings, elements of mythology, or explanations of natural phenomena, but they are associated with a particular locality or person and are told as a matter of history.

​It is a story from the past that is believed by many people but cannot be proved to be true.

  • ​A ballad is a song which narrates a story. Ballads are a part of folk culture and are passed on orally from one generation to another.
