​When we answer open ended questions we RACE!

​R- Restate the question

​The first thing we do when we answer open ended questions is restate the question!

​

​With your table group talk about what it means to restate the question, when your group has it give me a thumbs up!

​

​Use stems such as I think... or I believe...

​A- Answer the question

​The second thing we do when answering an open ended question is to actually answer the question!

​

​With your table group discuss how you would answer the question "what it means to work in groups"?

​

I think... I believe...

C- Cite the evidence

​The third thing we do is cite our evidence!

​

​With your table group discuss what it means to cite your evidence, once you have it give me a thumbs up.

​

In the reading passage.. or In the story...

E- Expand/Explain

​The last thing we do is wrap it all up!

​

​With your table group discuss what it means to wrap up your response, once you have it give me a thumbs up!

​

For example.. This shows... This means... I believe...
