  • The main function of the leaf is

  • TO MAKE FOOD. The food is in the form of sugar.

  • The process of making food in plants is called PHOTOSYNTHESIS.

  • In order to make food, plants need :

(i) carbon dioxide gas from the air

(ii) water

(iii) sunlight

​What is photosynthesis?

The process of making food (sugar) in plants using carbon dioxide, water and sunlight.​

​Why is photosynthesis a very important process?

Because during photosynthesis, OXYGEN gas is given out by the plants. Oxygen is needed for all living things to stay alive.
