Menyatakan tujuan atau maksud untuk melakukan sesuatu.

Expressions of agreement or disagreement with a suggestion or an idea.

Menyatakan persetujuan atau ketidaksetujuan dengan sebuah saran atau sebuah ide

A. Stating Purposes or Intent do something

If you want to state your purpose or intent to do something, you can use conjunctions such as to, so that, and in order to. Those conjunctions have a meaning in Indonesian "sama-sama, agar/ supaya" to stating the purpose.

5

"To" is a conjunction that has the meaning "agar atau supaya", which is followed by a verb or phrase/group of words.

Example:

We should study hard to get the best score .

(Kita seharusnya belajar rajin agar mendapatkan nilai terbaik)

"In order to" has the meaning "agar atau dengan tujuan untuk". This conjunction is generally used in written language rather than spoken language. "In order to" also seems more formal than the conjunction "to". This conjunction also has a negative form, namely "In order not to". Which is followed by a verb or group of words.

Example:

You have to take some rest in order to get well soon.

(kamu seharusnya istirahat agar lekas sembuh)

6

"So that" has almost the same meaning as "in order to", but this conjunction is followed by a full sentence (S + Verb). This conjunction is used to explain two sentences about cause and effect which do not coincide.

Example:

We should not eat instant food so that we will be healthy.

(Kita sebaiknya tidak makan makanan instan supaya kita sehat)

7

Responses of Suggestions, Agree or Disagree?

Agreement expression is used to explain an agreement for an opinion, suggestion, and a fact.

Meanwhile, when you do not agree about suggestion, opinion, and fact, you can express disagreement.

Will you agree with …..?

(Maukah kamu setuju dengan ……?)

Do you agree or disagree?
