​A place value chart can help you learn to read and write large numbers.

​It can help you determine the value of each digit, for example:

​PLACE VALUE is the value of the POSITION of s digit in a number.

​

​VALUE is the ACTUAL VALUE of the DIGIT .

​

​A PERIOD has three places, hundreds - tens - ones.

​

​The ZEROS in the thousands and the units periods are called

​PLACE HOLDERS.
