Evaluation for IEP (Individual Education Program)
When a student is referred for an evaluation, there are specific criteria that need to be met to qualify the student for special services.
Once the student qualifies for an IEP, their IEP is reviewed annually.
There is a re-evaluation every three years to determine if the student continues to need the support and services available to the student through the IEP

Autism Spectrum Disorder
The YouTube video, Autism Spectrum Disorder/Clinical Presentation by Medscape offers a thorough description of the Autism Spectrum including history of the diagnosis and how it has changed in the last decade to capture the varying components that make it a spectrum.
The spectrum is wide and a student could be needing help with one area while highly gifted in another area.
