as you explored ,what are the functions of  the cell?

6

Cell functions

all cells have similar basic functions they need to carry out to remain alive.

These functions are carried out not by the cell as a whole, but by specific parts of the cell.

Cells store and process information, gather energy and matter from the environment, use energy to carry out functions, and get rid of wastes.

Discuss. look at the two cells types in the photos .

Describe how each cell system works to provide functions needed by the whole organisms ?

10

Answer

the root cell of the plant work with other cells in the plant body to provide water and nutrients to the whole plant .

and

the single cell of protozoan must perform all the functions needed for survival ,including obtaining matter and energy

11

A Cell Is a Whole System

Cells make up all living organisms, including both unicellular organisms and multicellular organisms. In a unicellular organism, the cell must perform all of the functions it needs to live. In a multicellular organism, different types of cells perform unique functions to provide for the needs of the whole organism. For example, the skin cells of your body provide protection from harmful substances in the environment, and your red blood cells carry oxygen to all cells in your body.

what are the main characteristics of prokaryotic cells?

28

Types of Cells and Their Structures

All cells have three structures that carry out essential life functions.

The cell membrane

Cytoplasm

Genetic material

media

29

Genetic Material

Genetic material contains information that directs all of the cell’s functions.

Cell Membrane

The cell membrane surrounds and protects the cell and controls what materials go into and out of it.

Cytoplasm is a liquid substance that fills the inside of the cell and supports cell structures.

30

Ribosome

Ribosomes make proteins inside the cytoplasm.

Flagellum

These projections move the prokaryote through its environment.

Cell Wall

The cell wall provides structural support for plant cells and some prokaryotic cells.

31

All cells can be organized into two categories: prokaryotes and eukaryotes.

Prokaryotic Cells

Most prokaryotic cells do not have any membrane-bound organelles, although they do have structures called ribosomes that make proteins. The genetic material is free-floating in the cytoplasm. Prokaryotic cells are unicellular organisms. Bacteria are the largest group of prokaryotes.
