What are word gaps?
As readers, we often come across words that we are unfamiliar with or that we just don’t know at all. We call these Word Gaps.

How do we close word gaps?
As writers, we give hints to the meaning of words, or context clues, for the reader to fill their word gaps.
The chart on the next slide gives an acronym we can use to remember these context clues for when we are reading words we don’t know.
