Quando usamos o passado simples?
O Simple Past é usado para indicar ações passadas já concluídas, ou seja, para falar de fatos que já aconteceram; que começaram e terminaram no passado.
Ex: I worked last night. ( Eu trabalhei na noite passada).
She played videogame yesterday. ( Ela jogou videogame ontem).

Verbos regulares - regras:
1. De modo geral todos os verbos (regulares) recebem o -ed:
clean (limpar) – cleaned
finish (terminar) – finished
open (abrir) – opened
want (querer) – wanted

2. Se o verbo (regular) terminar com a letra –e basta acrescentar a letra “d” ao final:
dance (dançar) – danced
arrive (chegar) – arrived
live (morar, viver) – lived
die (morrer) – died

3. No caso do verbo terminar com uma consoante e um “y”, joque o “y” na lixeira e escreva “-ied” no lugar dele:
study (estudar) – studied
try (tentar) – tried

4. A regra 03 só vale para verbos terminados em consoantes seguidas por “y”. Caso o verbo termine com uma vogal seguida por “y”, então basta acrescentar –ed:
play (jogar) – played
enjoy (gostar) – enjoyed

5.Quando um verbo terminar emconsoante + vogal + consoante, devemos dobrar a última consoante e acrescentar –ed.
plan – planned
stop – stopped
control – controlled
prefer – preferred

Expressões temporais
Os exemplos mais usuais são: yesterday (ontem), the day before yesterday (anteontem), last night (ontem à noite), last year (ano passado), last month (mês passado), last week (semana passada), ago (atrás), etc.

Forma negativa:
SUJEITO + DIDN'T + VERBO NÃO CONJUGADO + COMPLEMENTO
I didn't study yesterday. ( Eu não estudei ontem).
She didn't play cards last night. ( Ela não jogou cartas ontem a noite).

SUJEITO + DIDN'T + VERBO NÃO CONJUGADO + COMPLEMENTO
I didn't study yesterday. ( Eu não estudei ontem).
She didn't play videogame last night. ( Ela não jogou videogame ontem a noite).
