Nostrils:
The Nostrils are two openings of the nose which contains tiny hairs called cilia and sticky liquid called Mucus.
The tiny hairs filter particles of dust and as they enter the nostrils. The mucus helps to clean, moisten and warm the air you breathe.
5
Nasal Cavity
The nasal cavity is a hallow portion through which air passes.
6
Olfactory Nerve
Olfactory Nerve are found in the upper part of the nasal cavity. They carry the smell to the brain. The brain tells you what you smell.
When you have cold, the passage in your nose maybe blocked. When this happens, you temporarily lose your sense of smell. The sense of smell and taste are related so when you have cold and you eat, you may not taste the food very well.
7
Your sense of smell can also give you a warning that there is danger around such as smell of burning wire or motor.
8
Sometimes, you breathe in dust, pepper, and other things that irritate the cilia in your nostrils. A message sent to your brain that you need to force the irritant out of your nose. These results in a sneeze.
The nose is the organ of smell.
Each part of the nose has its own function.
