​A whole note can be made into other kinds of notes.

​

​If you add a stem to a whole note, it becomes a half note.

​

​If you fill in the note head, the half note becomes a quarter note.

​

• ​In any clef, stems go UP for all notes BELOW the third line.

• ​Stems go DOWN for notes ABOVE the third line.

• ​Stem can go either way for the middle line!

​

• ​Stems going UP are on the RIGHT side of the note.

• ​Stems going DOWN are on the LEFT side of the note.
