WHEN DO WE USE CAPTIALIZATION?

1. Capitalize the first word of every sentence.
When starting a sentence, the first word should ALWAYS be captialized.
Eg. The boy is playing outside.
I am very hungry.
Do you have homework?

2. “I” is always capitalized,
When writing sentences, ' I ' should always be capitalized no matter the placement.
Eg. I am an intelligent student.
My friends and I love basketball.

3. Capitalize proper noun.
Proper nouns name specific one-of-a-kind items, and they begin with capital letters, no matter where they occur within a sentence.
Eg. I live in Castries.
My sister has a German Shepard.
We are going to Subway after school.

They are always capitalized as these are proper nouns
Note: Names of seasons are not capitalized eg. spring, summer, winter, fall, etc.

4. Capitalize a person’s title when it comes after their name.
Title is a name that describes someone's position or job. There are many titles eg. Dr, Mr, Mrs, Ms, Sir.
Eg. I am Dr. Samuel James.
My favorite teacher is Mrs. Paul.
Have you seen Sir. Arthur Lewis?

5. Capitalize the first word of a quoted sentence
You use quotation marks when you want to use someone else's words in your writing. " ..... "
Eg. She said, "I can do this".
"The sun is very hot", said John.
Mary asked, "Can you come with me?".
