​Federalist- a group that wanted a strong national government and supported the new Constitution.

​Devised- planned or invented with careful thought.

​Articles of Confederation- the original constitution that outlined a weaker central government.

Antifederalists-group that thought the Constitution gave the national government too much power.

​​​ratified-officially approved by signing into action

compromise- an agreement reached through a process of give and take
