Kente Cloth
The Asante people of the Akan kingdom in what is now Ghana. The word "kente" actually translates to "handwoven cloth" in the Twi language of the Akan people

The People of Bakuba kingdom

African Mudcloth?
It is a traditional Malian fabric that is dyed with fermented mud and plant dyes.
Historically, the cloth is sun-dried then painted repeatedly with fermented mud, which chemically reacts with the tree leaves and leaves the cloth a rich brown even after the mud is washed off.

You will be recreating pattern and texture (elements of art) with a focus on creating symbols that reflect you.

You will be creating a key for your Mudcloth design.
The key has symbols that are in your "mudcloth".
Those symbols represent you, your family, your friends, etc...
So, think of things that you do outside of school, hobby's, clubs, organizations, churches, gaming, music, food, and things you do with friends & family.
There will be 4 symbols in you Mudcloth 'key"

You will divide you paper into 3-4 sections
You will be incorporating different ink patterns in each section
You will be incorporating items from your key into the design (either in the patterns themselves or separatley or both).
