​Instructions:

• Read each of the following scenarios and identify which injury took place.

• ​The soft tissue injuries can be used more than once or not at all.

Cam Payne

During a soccer practice yesterday, Cam was playing goalie and working on moving laterally to block the ball. There were a few times that she had to leap and stretch to reach the ball. This resulted in her falling on her hip. The next morning she noticed her hip was tender to the touch and had a dark purplish mark.

​Brock Lee

​Brock is a gymnast. A couple of weeks ago he was practicing his dismounts but missed his landing and injured his knee. The Orthopedic said that he needed surgery to repair the MCL of his right knee. The surgeon needed to use the following injury to make the repairs. We are able to see the injury pictured here.

​Mike Stand

​Mike is a cross country runner, and a pretty talented one. At last weeks meet against their rivals, Mike was sprinting towards the finish line and fell. He was able to get up and regain his place. After he crossed the finish line and caught his breath, he looked at his legs and saw that there was a couple of layers of skin scrapped off and a little bleeding.

​Barb Dwyer

​Barb attempted a header in the soccer game but ended up hitting heads with one of the other girls, she doesn't know which one. She hit the front of her head but it is more painful on the back of her head.

​Rusty Carr

​Rusty made it to the championship round at the wrestling tournament over the weekend. He made one simple mistake and ended up in this predicament. As Rusty was being pinned he felt a pull in his hamstrings followed by quite a bit of pain. Rusty had a hard time moving his left leg and was thankful to be done for the day.

​Ty Knotts

​There was a big fight that broke out in the 2nd quarter of the hockey game. Ty threw down is gloves and started punching. Someone under Ty pushed him, Ty placed his hands on the ice to keep his balance. While his hands were on the ice a different player moved his foot and his skate cut Ty's hand, partially separating his ring finger from his hand.

​Adam Zapple

​Adam is new the the school and wanted to talk to the coach about joining the lacrosse team. Adam was walking across the field, not really paying attention, when he gets wacked in the head by one of the players practicing his long distance throws. This is what Adam looked like after the bleeding was cleaned up.

​Al Dente

​Al is a center fielder. In the top of the 4th inning there was a short fly ball that would have been the third out if he could have made the catch, but... this happened. He was in a lot of pain and had to come out of the game. The athletic trainer (AT) said that there is an injury to the tissue that connects bone to muscle.

​Olive Yew

​It is Senior Night and there are a lot of decorations going up. Olive and the other cheerleaders were practicing their passes (flips) when she realizes that she has a thumb tac stuck in her thumb. The leadership group must have dropped it and Olive landed on it during her flip.

​Bill Board

​Bill has been struggling with his tennis serve but he was determined to serve an ace. It was a perfect toss and a perfect hit except he felt something give in his shoulder. Later the AT said that he had an injury to the tissue that connects bone to bone.
