Berikut adalah ciri-ciri Procedure text:

• Menggunakan Simple Present Tense.

• Menggunakan imperative sentence yang merupakan bentuk kalimat yang biasanya digunakan untuk memberi perintah. Contohnya don’t mix, turn on, cut into slices dan lain sebagainya.

• Menggunakan connective of sequence (then, while, next, dan lain sebagainya).

• Menggunakan numbering (first, second, third, dan lain sebagainya).

• Menggunakan action verb. Contohnya, turn, plug, put, dan lain sebagainya).

• Menggunakan adverb. Contohnya: slowly, carefully, dan lain sebagainya.

Procedure text mempunyai generic structure yang berbeda dengan jenis teks lain, yaitu:

• Aim/goal (tujuan)

Terletak pada judul teks dan digunakan untuk menunjukkan tujuan dari teks tersebut.

• Ingredients/materials

Berisi bahan atau alat yang diperlukan dalam langkah-langkah melakukan prosesnya.

Contoh: The materials to make an omelet are egg, onion, vegetable oil, salt, and pepper.

• Steps/methods

Berisi cara, metode, atau langkah yang dilakukan untuk mencapai tujuan pada teks tersebut.

Instructions:

1. First, separate the egg yolk and the white. Then beat the egg white until stiff.

2. In a separated bowl, mix the egg yolks with sugar until the sugar melts.

3. Next, add the flour, baking powder, and salt. Then stir until all the ingredients mixed.

4. Slowly pour all the mixture ingredients into one bowl. Then add vanilla extract and mix it.

How to Make Orange Juice

INGREDIENTS

3 cups orange juice

Plain juicer

DIRECTIONS

Blend all ingredients with ice for 1 minute on high.

1. Soften the orange. Tightly squeeze or roll the oranges firmly with the palm of your hand across the counter or table to soften them up.

2. Slice the orange in half and remove the seeds.

3. Grip the one of the orange halves tightly and squeeze it by hand, using a plain juicer to coax all the juice out and pour the moisture into the glasses.

4. Scrape the orange with a spoon and add the pulp directly to the juice. Add some pinch of sugar for more flavors.

How to Make Fried Banana

INGREDIENTS

6 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons sugar

1 egg, beaten

1⁄4 cup milk

1 pinch salt

4 medium bananas (the firmer they are, the better)

peanut oil (for frying)

DIRECTIONS

1. Fist, mix together the flour, sugar, egg, milk and salt to make a smooth, paste-like batter.

2. Leave to rest for one hour.

3. Then, peel the bananas and slice each one in half lengthwise, then across into chunks about three inches long.

4. Dip the banana pieces into the batter and shallow fry in hot oil for a few minutes or until golden brown all over.
