There Goes My Weekend!
Sarah could not believe what had happened. She was really looking forward to enjoy her weekend after a whole week toiling for the final examination but everything fell down the drain. One moment she was on her bed playing her favourite video game and then her parents forced her and her 5 siblings into her father’s van. Sarah found herself in a 7-hour journey to Johor.
Her parents had decided to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary in Johor Bahru. They checked into a majestic hotel but to Sarah’s horror, all her siblings and her parents were yet again cramped into one tiny room there. She and the older children slept on the floor. The worst part of it, they did not even have enough sockets for her to charge her cell phone.
16
Saturday morning arrived and Sarah woke up with a start when one of the babies kicked her on the face. Baby Haziq simply grinned and babbled away without noticing the pain he had caused. By the time all of them got ready for breakfast, it was 10 in the morning and they missed the morning breakfast. Sarah wanted to scream because she was starving. Her parents bought some buns for them, but to her that was not even enough to fill her stomach.
By noon, they were back in the van as their parents wanted to find their favourite restaurant that they had gone to when they were dating. Sarah wanted to scream when they still had not found the restaurant 3 hours later. By that time, Sarah was so hungry that she could easily chew her fist. They finally stopped at a mall and Sarah practically devoured every single morsel of food in front of her. Her sister called her a pig, but she did not even care.
17
They arrived back at the hotel late in the evening. As Sarah slept in the small hotel room with her siblings on the floor yet again, she knew the next day was going to be as awful as Saturday. Their parents were planning to show her and her siblings all the places they used to go when they were dating. Sarah wished that she was back home enjoying a quiet fun weekend while playing video games. Nonetheless, there was nothing that she could do.
