MAGNETIC ATTRACTION

Magnets attract objects that are magnetic. Iron, for example, is attracted to magnets. A magnet will attract, or pull, an iron nail. A pencil, which is made of wood, is not attracted to magnets. A magnet will not pull a wooden pencil. Think of some other objects that you may tried to attract to a magnet.

Magnets have two different ends, called poles. Depending on which end of the magnet you are using, one magnet will pull, or attract, the end of another magnet. But turn the ends of one of the magnets around, and now the magnets will push, or repel, each other.
