Decide whether below inventions were created by a Filipino(s) or not.
3
AUREUS: AURORA RENEWABLE ENERGY & UV SEQUESTRATION
The AuREUS system is an evolution for walls/windows, and uses technology synthesized from upcycled crop waste to absorb stray UV light from sunlight and convert it to clean renewable electricity.
4
Poll
Is AUREUS: AURORA RENEWABLE ENERGY & UV SEQUESTRATION made by a Filipino researcher and inventor?
Yes
No
5
AUREUS: AURORA RENEWABLE ENERGY & UV SEQUESTRATION
Yes. It is created by a 27-year old Filipino inventor Carvey Ehren Maigue of Mapua University. The AuREUS System Technology is a new material, made from waste crop, which converts UV light into renewable energy. It harvests UV light and converts it into visible light to generate electricity in a way that traditional solar panels cannot do – as the material absorbs UV light whether the sun is shining or it is cloudy. He was handpicked to win the James Dyson Award.
6
Bamboo Incubator
In a bid to help families in rural communities without electricity a bamboo incubator was made in 1941.
7
Poll
Is AUREUS: Bamboo Incubator made by a Filipino researcher and inventor?
Yes
No
8
Bamboo Incubator
When we speak of amazing Filipino women in history, we can’t miss Fe del Mundo, the first woman admitted to Harvard Medical School. Although she is most known for this groundbreaking achievement in 1936, del Mundo has pioneered a lot of things important not only in the field of pediatrics or medicine but also in society.
9
Pipe-to Manalo-to hydroelectric generator
A pico hydroelectric generator dubbedas the “Pipe-to Manalo-to” can be installed in water pipes to generate electricity for the home.
10
Poll
Is the “Pipe-to Manalo-to” made by Filipino researchers and inventors?
Yes
No
11
Pipe-to Manalo-to hydroelectric generator
Out of 26 teams which submitted their entries about sustaining power in future cities, the students from the Philippine Science High School – Cagayan Valley emerged as the grand prize winner of Shell’s “The Bright Ideas Challenge (TBIC).eam Pisay’s prototype invention of pico-hydroelectric generator is a miniature principle of hydroelectric power generation for household application. Their prototype entry can produce less than 5 kW of electricity, which is capable to charge a mobile phone, and power up the lights inside a house.

AirDisc Cooling Technologies
AirDisc Cooling Technologies is an alternative air-conditioner design that uses only ten per cent of the electricity required from a conventional installation. The device consists of a rotating set of concentric air tanks through which air is passed and compressed, being cooled in the process. As well as having a low energy requirement, it also bypasses the chemical refrigerants used in conventional air conditioners – avoiding the use of an expensive, toxic and extremely hazardous material.
13
Poll
Is the AirDisc Cooling Technology made by a Filipino researcher and inventor?
Yes
No
14
AirDisc Cooling Technologies
An air conditioner that runs without ozone-depleting refrigerant invented by an award-winning Engineering student and James Dyson awardee, Maria Yzabell Angel Palma.
Palma’s AirDisc uses low compression and high-volume air molecules to generate cool air instead of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) that contribute to the depletion of the earth’s ozone layer.

Maria Orosa: The War Hero Who Invented Banana Ketchup
Maria Orosa was a war hero. When World War II reached the Philippines, Orosa joined the Marking’s Guerillas, which was one of hundreds of guerilla forces formed against the Japanese.
She risked her life smuggling food into prison camps to feed Filipino and American prisoners of war. One of her food inventions proved useful for this: Soyalac. It was considered as a miracle food because of its complete nutrition.

Gloves that convert sign language into speech.
Is this invented by a Filipino(s)?
Yes
No
20
Gloves that convert sign language into speech.
A group of Electrical Engineering college students from Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges made the Filipino Sign Language interpreting gloves for their thesis project.
The gloves have thin, elastic sensors located in each of the five fingers. Hand gestures and finger locations are tracked and interpreted by an MPU-6050 motion tracking device. The data is then collected and transferred to a computer over WiFi for processing and real-time translation. “This project gives voice to the deaf and speech-impaired people.
