WHAT IS A SUBJECT?​

  • Basically, a subject is a doer that has done an action in a sentence.

  • Usually, we can find the subject at the beginning of the sentence.​

​For example:

  • Gabby is talking to her sister right now.

​* here, Gabby is what we called a subject and the one who does the action (is talking).

WHAT IS A VERB?​

  • A verb is the action done (usually by a subject) in a sentence.

  • There are 2 types of verbs:

  1. Action verbs ( play, sing, talk, eat, speak)

  1. Helping verbs​ ( verb to be, verb to have, verb to do, modal verbs)

​For example:

  • ​Adilla accidently broke her mother favourite vase.

​* here, the verb 'broke' [RV: break] is used to show what kind of action being done by the subject [Adilla].

What is Simple Past Tense?​

  • A simple past is usually used to​ talk about an action or event that already happened or existed before.

A simple Past can be something about an action that you have done this morning.

For example:

  • ​Daniel unsuccessfully kicked a ball past a goal post just now.

There are 2 types of verbs used in SIMPLE PAST:

  1. Regular verbs [ Root verb + -ed/-d ]

  2. ​Irregular verbs [ the spellings (ejaan) and pronunciations (sebutan) are changed]
