​How to form the plural?

​The plural is formed by adding just -s to any noun.

​book = books

umbrella = umbrellas

pen = pens

Of course there are exceptions and for these ones there are rules to follow:

​For example:

​Nouns ending in 'o'

​All nouns ending in 'o' we just add -es to the noun.

potato = potatoes

tomato = tomatoes

hero = heroes

for the following words, which both plurals are correct:

buffalo = buffalos / buffaloes

mosquito = mosquitos / mosquitoes

tornado = tornados / tornadoes

Here is another rule:

Words ending in consonant + 'y'

to pluralize them we change the 'y' by 'v' and then we add +es

lady = ladies

party = parties

city = cities

day = days

clay = clays
