​So the calorie is simply a unit of measurement for the heat energy an object will release when broken down.

​Humans are like engines and they food is our fuel. The calories the food contains tells us how much energy we get from that food. But this energy is still just a form of heat.

​What we are going to focus on today is the fact that the calories in food are actually kilocalories. They are spelled with a Capital letter C to signify that they are kilocalories.

​So 1 Calorie is equal to 1000 calories.
