​What is the structure of the Earth?

​The Earth is made up of three layers.

1. ​The outer layer is the rocky crust. It depth varies between 8km and 40 km.​

2. Beneath the crust is the mantle. This is mostly of solid rock, but it can flow. Very slowly hotter rock rises and cooler rock sinks.

3. ​About halfway to the centre of the Earth is the core. This is mainly iron and nickel. The outer core is liquid. The inner core is solid
