​Before the UAE was formed in 1971, it was known as the Trucial States. Between 1820 and 1892 several protective treaties or truces were signed by the Sheikhs with the British Government.

​Many new regional kingdoms emerged after the death of Aurangzeb. The Rajputs established their independent kingdom and Sawai Jai Singh was one of the prominent Rajput rulers during the eighteenth century.

The Pink City, Jaipur was founded by Jai Singh. He introduced many social reforms and due to his keen interest in astronomy, he set up observatories in Delhi and Jaipur to study the heavenly objects.
