​The Ohio Government Structure

Legislative Branch: Ohio House and Ohio Senate

Executive Branch: Governor and Lt. Governor-This mirrors the President and Vice President at the National Level.

​-Executive Offices including Secretary of State are elected by the People

Judicial Branch: Ohio Supreme Court: Voted on by the People!

​The Original Ohio Constitution (1802)

-The General Assembly (Legislative Branch), had basically all the power in the government​.

​-Key executive and Judicial Offices were appointed by the General Assembly. This includes Secretary of State, Attorney General, etc.

​-Governor has no real powers. Was basically a figure head.

​-No debt ceiling was established so the state took on a significant amount of debt.

​-The Supreme Court was required to meet once in EVERY COUNTY. This became very difficult and burdensome.
