2

What is energy?

-Energy is the ability to do work, and comes in multiple forms, Energy is what allows us to move, or cause change to the matter around us.

3

Sound Energy

this is the movement of energy through a substance through waves.

-caused by Vibrations of the particles the object in question has.

4

Mechanical

The sum of motion associated with the motion and position

5

Chemical

Energy stored in the bonds of the atoms, released when certain chemical reactions happen

6

Nuclear

Atomic energy stored in the nucleus of an atom

-Released when atoms either use Fission or fusion

7

Radiant

Energy involving light. Comes from the sun and allows plants to photosynthesize.

8

Thermal

Also known as "heat energy"

-Caused when a rise in temperature causes atoms and molecules to move faster and collide with each other

 Hotter=faster=higher Thermal Energy

9

Electrical

Energy made available through the continuous flow of an electric current through an conductor

10

Gravitational

Caused by the positioning of an object. Uses the gravity of the Earth to bring objects back down to the surface of the planet. Varies depending on velocity and height of the object in question

11

Elastic

Caused when an object is put under stress from being either stretched or compressed. Converts to kinetic energy and given more velocity when released

12

Kinetic

The energy of an object in motion. One of the two basic types of energy

13

Potential

The Energy of an object at rest. The second of the two basic forms of energy

14

States Of Matter

15

Solids

firm and stable in shape; not liquid or fluid. Solids such as water can change between all three. Molecules are tightly packed together, and have a set shape and volume.

16

Liquids

a substance that flows freely but is of constant volume, having a consistency like that of water or oil. Molecules are able to move around over each other. Have no set set shape, yet a set volume

17

Gas

a substance or matter in a state in which it will expand freely to fill the whole of a container, having no fixed shape and no fixed volume.

18

Plasma

an ionized gas consisting of positive ions and free electrons in proportions resulting in more or less no overall electric charge, typically at low pressures (as in the upper atmosphere and in fluorescent lamps) or at very high temperatures (as in stars and nuclear fusion reactors). Have the same properties as gases, except being electrified

19

Law of Conservation of energy

The law of Conservation states that energy cannot be created nor destroyed, it can only change states
