SIMPLE PRESENT:
He runs every morning.
PRESENT PROGRESSIVE:
He is running right now.

Look at the difference between simple present and present progressive:
SIMPLE PRESENT:
He runs every morning. [habit]
- use for habits, routines, facts, general truths
PRESENT PROGRESSIVE:
He is running right now. [now]
- use when an action is happening right now

SIMPLE PRESENT:
We love ice cream. [won't change]
- things that you don't expect will change
PRESENT PROGRESSIVE:
I'm eating sushi this week. [only this week, it will change]
- use for temporary or changing actions

SIMPLE PRESENT:
She hates apples. [stative verb]
- stative verbs (love, hate, like, want, know, see, hear, etc.)
PRESENT PROGRESSIVE:
Not Possible
She is hating apples.

Sometimes stative verbs can be used as actions, but the meaning changes!
SIMPLE PRESENT:
I have a new book.

I think sushi is delicious.
think = believe
PRESENT PROGRESSIVE:
He's having pizza.
have = eat
I am thinking about coffee.
