Writing Phrases and Sentences

​Objective:

​

Write phrases or sentences about an illustration and/or character.

​ A phrase is a group of words stating descriptions about a person, place, thing, event and the like. It has no complete thought or meaning.

​

A sentence is a group of words expressing a complete meaning or thought. It is composed of a subject and a predicate. Writing a phrase or a sentence becomes easier with the help of pictures or illustrations. The illustrations or pictures of a character, place or thing may guide you in describing them.

​

​ There are many ways to describe a character or an illustration. We can do it through spoken or written form. When we describe the traits of a character, we must be specific and precise in our words.

​ Character traits tell something about the personalities and qualities of a person. Similarly, illustration provides clear description and details prevailing traits of the character.

​Write a sentence about each picture. These are the preventive measures to avoid COVID-19.

Illustrations and characters help us write words, phrases, and sentences with the use of descriptive words.

Through illustrations, the reader will be able to interpret visual images while characters tell about the inner qualities of a person.

​illustrations like signages that we see on streets help us become more aware of the things around us. Knowing these and following what they suggest, and mean would help us avoid accidents, like when crossing the street, one must use the pedestrian lane.
