​Remember!

We use gerund (verb+ing)

  1. ​as a subject of a sentence (Reading is fun)

  2. ​after certain verbs and expressions ( I can't imagine leaving in another country)​

  3. ​after the verb go(Let's go swimming!)

  4. after prepositions ( I took up painting last year)

  5. ​after certain phrases with to ( I can't get used to waking up early)

​We use infinitive with to

  1. ​to show purpose ( I went to the super market to buy food)

  2. ​after certain verbs ( I can't afford to buy a new car)

  3. ​after adjectives which show feelings (I was pleased to get your letter)

  4. after too and enough ( He is too young to drive a car)

​Bare Infinitive

​we use infinitive without to

  1. ​with modals ( You must di your homeworj everyday.)

  2. ​with had better / would rather ( It is cold. You had better take a coat.)

  3. ​with vebs make / let / see / hear when used in active voice (My mum made me wash the dishes.)
