Tropical rainforests are the richest of all in plant and animal life. Plants grow continuously and there is always constant supply of food which provides a paradise for animals who live there. Why are rainforests considered a paradise for animals?
But, what will happen if these rainforests disappear?
The world’s rainforests are being cut down to provide timber and to make room for farmlands. They are disappearing at the rate of over 21 hectares every minute. If this rate continues, there will be no rainforests left by the year 2035.
Why are rainforests considered a paradise for animals?

Destruction of the rainforests will cause the extinction of thousands of plants and animals, many of which will be very useful to us. At the same time, the planet will lose the most productive of all its plant and animal community. Rainforests will not grow again. Clearing large areas of forests makes it impossible for plants to spread rapidly enough from untouched areas and provide sufficient ground cover to prevent soil erosion.
What is the result of the destruction of rainforests?

Rainforest soil is poor. Most of the nutrients are contained in the plants themselves. The land can be farmed for only a few years and after that, it is left to be exposed to wind and rain, so the soil quickly washed away. Removal of the rainforests will also affect the world’s climate. Without these large areas of greenery to use up carbon dioxide, the greenhouse effect maybe increased.
Heat will be trapped close to the surface of the Earth and this will warm the Earth’s surface. Temperature will continue to rise if greenhouse gases will keep building up in the atmosphere.
How will it affect the world’s climate?
