​Objective:

To prove two triangles congruent using the SSS, SAS, ASA, AAS, and HL postulates.​

​Last Time...

​We learned that congruent triangles have the same size and shape. By this, we mean that all pairs of corresponding parts (sides and angles) are congruent.

​

​We also said that we would rarely have all six pieces of information we would need to use this to prove triangles congruent.

Turns out​

​There are several combinations of three sides and/or angles that are enough to prove two triangles congruent.

​

​SSS: Side-Side-Side

​SAS: Side-Angle-Side

​ASA: Angle-Side-Angle

​AAS: Angle-Angle-Side

​HL: Hypotenuse-Leg

​Side-Side-Side (SSS)

​Three sides congruent

​Side-Angle-Side (SAS)

​Two sides and an included angle

​Angle-Side-Angle (ASA)

​Two angles and an included side

​Angle-Angle-Side (AAS)

​Two angles and a non-included side

​Hypotenuse-Leg (HL)

​In a right triangle, the hypotenuse and one leg
