What is Mass Production?
Producing large amounts of items that are identical.

How is it done?
The Assembly Line: the item is moved down the line and individual parts are added until the item is finished.

Each worker has only one or two tasks and repeats those tasks as the item passes them on the line (a.k.a. division of labor).

Henry Ford's improvement of the assembly line led the first car produced on the assembly line, the Model "T".

How did mass production benefit the Model "T"?
1. All parts were interchangeable (i.e. if a part broke, it was easier to replace it).
2. Price of Model "T" was much cheaper and more people could afford them. (In 1908, the Model "T" cost $850, by 1920, it cost only $260.)
