We put them after the verb!!!

​He cooks badly.

​She always works hard.

​

​He sings terribly.

​

​She drives her car quickly.

​Adverbs of manner describe how things happen.

​We form them by adding "ly" at the end of the adjectives with some changes in spelling.

​

​easy - easily

​

gentle - gently

​

​If the adjective ends in "ly" we use the phrase: in a .....way

​

​e.g.: friendly - in a friendly way

​silly - in a silly way

​

​Some adverbs have the same form as the adjective:

​- hard

​- late

​- fast

​- early

​- much

​- little

​-straight

​Adjective Adverb Changes

​kind kindly add "ly"

​slow slowly

​

​careful carefully add "ly"

​beautiful beautifully

​

​happy happily "y" changes into "i"

noisy noisily and we add "ly"

​

​responsible responsibly "ble" changes into "bly"

​

​good well irregular adverbs -changes

​hard hard irregular - no change

​fast fast
