Unit 2: What my body does

Our body has three sections​:

​Head

​Torso

​Limbs

​Limbs are divided in:

​Upper limbs : arms

​Lower limbs: legs

​Our skeleton protects our organs and is made up of many bones.

​

Our skull, backbone, ribs and pelvis are all bones.

All our bones have muscles connected to them. Our muscles help move our bones.

​

Muscles work in pairs. To move our arm up, the biceps muscle contracts and the triceps muscle relaxes.

​

To move our arm down, the biceps muscle relaxes and the triceps muscle contracts.

​

A joint is where two or more bones come together. Our neck, jaw, shoulders, elbows, wrists, fingers, hips, knees, ankles and toes are joints.

Be alert and use your senses in order to prevent accidents

​

Look after your body by wearing the correct protection, such as a helmet.
