What is Communication?

Communication is a form of exchanging thoughts and ideas or information through forms like gestures, oral words, written words, letters, messages, phone calls, etc. When we communicate, there will surely be a sender (the one who sends the message/) and a receiver(the one whom the sender is communicating to) as we can tell in the names. There will also be a channel(the way in which they are communicating/the  mode used to communicate the information.) Communication can again be classified into two, depending on the channel! One type is Verbal Communication. The other, Non-Verbal communication.

Verbal Communication

When we communicate verbally,

it means we communicate with words. Verbal communication can either be done orally or written down, but as long as it contains words it still falls under Verbal Communication.

5

Nonverbal Communication

This term refers to communicating with another without using any form of verbal language. For e.g. A girl who is deaf or has difficulties in speaking may communicate with her teacher with gestures. This is an example for Nonverbal Communication.
