PAST SIMPLE - regular verbs
Il Past simple dei verbi regolari si forma aggiungendo -ed alla forma base del verbo per tutte le persone singolari e plurali. Nell’aggiungere -ed si seguono le seguenti regole ortografiche:
• i verbi che terminano per -e aggiungono solo -d: move – moved;
• i verbi che terminano in -y preceduti da cons. cambiano la -y in -i e aggiungono -ed: study – studied;
• i verbi monosillabi che terminano in vocale + una sola consonante raddoppiano la consonante: stop – stopped;
• i verbi bisillabi che terminano in vocale accentata + una sola consonante raddoppiano la consonante: prefer – preferred;
•i verbi terminanti in -l raddoppiano la -l in inglese britannico: travel – travelled.
