STARTER.
Resources: Cards cut out from Resource sheet 7C.
Description: There are 16 cards in the set and all must be used. The game can be played with a whole class, where two learners share one card; or with a group of 16 learners; or with a smaller group, where a learner holds more than one card. To start, a learner says the second part of their card. The learner with the equivalent expression reads the answer, and then the second part of their card. Play continues until the loop is formed.
Variation: Use the cards to make a loop on the table, or divide the class into two groups of 16 and see who completes the task quicker.

Learning intention: Recognise percentages of shapes and write a percentage as a fraction with a denominator of 100
Resources: Bingo cards cut from Resource sheet 7D, Counters, pie chart diagrams showing percentages which add to 100%

Check that they know.
· Percent means the number of parts in a hundred.
· The symbol % represents a percentage.
· One whole = 100%, one half = 50%, one quarter =25%, three quarters = 75% and one hundredth = 1%

Percentage bingo game.
Play the percentage bingo game from Resource sheet 7D with the class. The Resource sheet contains six different cards which can be duplicated.

Class Discussion.
Show some pie chart diagrams which contain percentages. Ask learners to add the percentages.

Explanation.
In these sorts of diagrams, the total is one whole which is 100%.
Look at the Worked example 2 in the Learners book together and then ask learners to complete questions 1 to 3 of Exercise 7.2 page 80 to 81

Description: Review the work done on equivalent fractions and percentages. Display the set of fractions and percentages. Point to a fraction or percentage on the diagram and ask for equivalent fractions or percentages.
