Basic Rule #1
Singular subjects must have singular verbs. Plural subjects take plural verbs

Examples:
The boy runs.
She eats cucumber.
They buy foods for the new year celebration.
He suffers from Covid 19.

Rule #2
The pronoun "you" always take a plural verb.

Nouns connected by the conjunction and in the subject work as the plural subject and take a plural verb.
