We will begin with Standard Division

Let's do this step by step. First, can 2 go into 2? Yes. How many times can 2 go into 2? Once. Put the 1 on top of the 2 in 24 and then multiply 1 by the 2 we are dividing by. That should equal 2. Subtract the answer you got by the 2 in 24. That should equal 0. Bring down the 4 in 24 next to the 0. How many times can 2 go into 4? Twice. Put the 2 on top of the 4 in 24. Subtract the 4 by the 4 and then you should get you remainder. If it is a 0, then you have no remainder. The number on the top is the answer.
