Franklin Chang-Díaz had the same dream. Franklin was born in Costa Rica. As a child, he would look up at the sky. He dreamed of going into outer space.

Franklin left Costa Rica when he was 18 years old. He came to the United States. He worked hard to learn English.

Franklin studied to become an astronaut. After many years of school, he became the first Latino American astronaut! He flew into space seven different times.

Now, Franklin Chang-Díaz loves to talk to students about his time in space. Many people look up to him.
