​Look at the picture of the baby.

​What can you say about the baby?

​Read the sentences

1. The baby is cute.​

2. The baby is happy.​

3. The baby wears a purple dress.​

​The underlined words in the sentences are called ADJECTIVES.

​An ADJECTIVE describes or modifies a noun or a pronoun.

• In sentence number 1, we used the word cute to describe the baby.

• In sentence number 2, we used the word happy ​to describe the baby.

• In sentence number 3, we used purple to describe the color of the dress.​

​

​We use adjectives to make the message clearer.

The use of an adjective arouses the interest and make the sentence or story interesting.​

​An ADJECTIVE can be :

Opinion - example: difficult subject

Size - example: a little girl

Age: example: young boy

Shape: example: a square table

Color: example: a pink bag

Origin: example: Cordilleran costume​

Material: example: a metal box

Purpose: example: a racing car​

​

​It is easy to identify an adjective.

Just remember: opinion, size, age, shape, color, origin, material or purpose​
