Let's BEGIN!!!
13
Ang figure ay nahahati sa 100 parts.
14
Mayroon itong shaded parts:
7 yellow shaded parts
13 green shaded parts
21 blue shaded parts
15
YELLOW: 7/100
Kung gagawing FRACTION, magkakaroon ng:
GREEN: 13/100
BLUE: 21/100
16
7/100 -> 7:100
Kung gagawing RATIO ang fraction, magiging:
13/100 -> 13:100
21/100 -> 21:100
17
7/100 -> 7:100 -> 0.07
Kung gagawing DECIMAL ang ratio o fraction, magkakaroon ng:
13/100 -> 13:100 -> 0.13
21/100 -> 21:100 -> 0.21
(NOTE: Kapag ang value ay nasa 1 to 9, kapag ginawang decimal, ipuwesto sa hundredths place ang digit, at gumamit ng place holder o 0 sa tenths place. Hal., 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.04, 0.05, 0.06, 0.07, 0.08, 0.09.
Ang mga numbers naman na 10 to 99 ay lagyan lamang ng decimal point bago ang number. Hal., 0.10, 0.29, 0.87, 0.99)
18
7/100 -> 7:100 -> 0.07 -> 7%
Kung gagawing PERCENT ang ratio, fraction o decimal, magkakaroon ng:
13/100 -> 13:100 -> 0.13 -> 13%
21/100 -> 21:100 -> 0.21 -> 21%
Another name for "per hundred" is percent. The symbol for percent is %.
19
PERCENT means a part of a hundred.
(Sa Tagalog, ito ay porsiyento o bahagdan.)
20
Let us try visualizing percent in solving word problem.
Beronyka and Ron earned Php 100 for selling face mask. They gave their mother Php 80 and put Php 20 in their coin bank. What percent of their earnings did they give to their mother? What percent did they have?
Let us draw a model.
There are 100 parts in all.
The shaded part is 80 out of 100 parts.
Write: 80% Read: 80 percent
The unshaded part is 20 of 100 parts.
Write: 20% Read: 20 percent
The percent of their earnings that they gave to their mother was 80%, and the percent that they had was 20%.
21
PERCENT is a special ratio that compares a certain number to 100. It is a ratio whose meaning is similar to fraction with a denominator of 100. It means hundredths so it can be written as decimal and a decimal in hundredths can be expressed as a percent.
22
A short way to change a fraction with a denominator of 100 into decimal is to write the numerator and put the decimal point two places from the right. Percent is to write the numerator together with the percent sign.
-> 25%
23
Always remember:
When changing decimal to percent, always move 2 places to the right. Kahit nasaan pa nakapuwesto ang decimal point, basta 2 places to the right ang pag-move.
Examples:
0.04 -> 4%
0.53 -> 35%
0.046 - 4.6%
0.02 -> 2%
0.01 -> 1%
24
Always remember:
Kapag naman nasa ratio o fraction, i-change muna ito sa decimal at saka gawing percent para hindi malito. Kung kaya nang diretsong ratio or fraction to percent, much better.
Examples:
6/10 -> 0.6 -> 60%
35/100 -> 0.35 -> 35%
2/3 -> 0.67 -> 67%
4:5 -> 0.8 -> 80%
6:8 -> 0.75 -> 75%
