Positive Consequences meet basic needs like: food, clothing and shelter (a place to live)

It also includes: making travel faster and safer, creating new job opportunities and being able to buy and sell goods and services. 

Example: Making a bridge over a river to help people get to places faster. Putting in a new traffic signal to help make driving safer. A new factory is built to give people lots of new jobs.

Negative Consequences

Negative consequences have bad effect that often hurt the environment and have a bad effect on people’s lives. 

Example: A factory pollutes the river that it is by. A new road that was built destroyed a natural habitat. A forest is cut down to build new homes.
