​Teaching and Learning in the Digital Age

​Different grades mostly will use different kinds of technology. Most kindergartners will use computer games to learn reading skills. Elementary school children will create graphs and other information-based projects in a spreadsheet program. Middle schoolers who are in history or social studies classes will do research on numerous websites. High schoolers use online class courses and test sites to make it easier on teachers.

​Technology: Making Learning More Accessible

​Students can sometimes face barriers in learning. Technology has ways to bypass those barriers. Teachers and students don't even need to physically be in the same classroom. Students with disability are able to participate more fully in class due to technology.

Distance education is a learning situation in which the teacher and student are not in the same location. Online learning is education that takes place over the Internet. It is often referred to as “e- learning” among other terms. However, online learning is just one type of “distance learning”. Virtual schools are schools that only are available online.

​Technology: Providing Tools for Teachers

​Technology is an incredible tool for teachers as it's applications provide uses in planning, teaching, communicating, managing tasks, and even inspiration for teaching. Planning is a big part of teaching, teachers are given roughly 45 minutes to plan a day. This time varies on weekends, but teachers need the right tools to plan. Technology allows for teachers to plan smoothly to reach the minds of their students. Teaching has changed from the old days. With technology teachers can teach with technology to make it interactive and fun. One way is the interactive whiteboard. It just needs to connect to a projector and compute and you're in business teaching away. Communication is key in the classroom, easy now thanks to gmail.com. Drive and other websites that store info make teachers lives easy. Folders are a thing of the past thanks to technology.

​Activities that include technology require particularly careful planning. Classroom teachers who successfully use technology suggest that starting with easy applications and working toward more complicated uses helps lead to achievement.
