Caleb has 4 bags with 2/5 cup cereal in each bag.  He recorded this expression as:

             4 X 2/5

He decided to rearrange the cereal into bag with 1/5 cup in each bag. Which of the expressions represents Caleb’s cereal now? Write an expression to represent Caleb’s cereal now.​

How do we know that this is repeated addition?​

Repeated Addition. When a fraction is REPEATED in the problem.

If we can add the fraction over and over again in the problem it is REPEATED ADDITION.​

We can draw a model and an equation to show repeated addition as a multiplication problem.

Jojo ordered 36 cupcakes for the party. He ordered red velvet and vanilla cupcakes.  ¾ of the cupcakes are vanilla.  How many are red velvet?​

Fraction of a Set. When a fraction is the total amount I'm given, and I have to solve for PART of it.

My answer is usually a WHOLE number when I am finding a fraction of a set.
