​Step 1

The image depicts two men engaged in hand to hand combat in the desert. One is a soldier that represents the Allied forces. the other is Erwin Rommel, Officer and Field Marshal of the Tobruk offensive. The Allies soldier can be seen punching Rommel in the face, leaving him dazed.

​Step 2

The image represents the results of the Rommel's attempts to siege Tobruk, and the Hostile and dogmatic defense they were met with from the allies. While Rommel and the Axis forces were attacking Tobruk, the Australian and Allied forces offensive approach to defend the port, by meeting them out on the battlefield. This strategy proved successful for a time, and kept the Nazi panzer tanks at bay for several months.
