2

There is.

Singular (Kata nama tunggal)

There is a cat. A cat is one cat. So you should use there is.

Singular means one thing (satu benda). When the noun (kata nama) is singular (tunggal) then use "is"

a) There is a car in front of me.

b) This is a car.

*Make sure to use the article "a" or "an" before the noun. "an" is used for words that start with A,E,I,O,U. Example: An Ostrich.

3

There are.

Plural nouns (kata nama ganda)

There are cats. There are two cats. When there is more than one cat or thing. Use "are".

Can you count things like snow, water and fire?

I see two snow on the ground, I can see 5 waters on the floor.

These are wrong.

You can just say, I see snow on the ground. I see water on the floor.

For uncountable nouns, we mainly use "is".

There is snow (ok). There are snow(x).

There is water (ok). There are water (x).

You should NOT give plural -s to uncountable nouns E.G SNOWS,WATERS
